Website translation and localization

Tell us what the site is made of and we'll tell you what we need.

What to hand over

  • Page text.

A copy-paste in a document is fine. A list of URLs is fine too, if the pages are public.

  • Strings.

App or theme text in JSON, PO or XLIFF. Send the file as it is, with the keys. Don't flatten it into a spreadsheet.

  • Everything else.

Meta titles and descriptions, image alt text, button labels, form messages, the "your cart is empty" text nobody remembers writing.

Packages start at $499.

Dozens of pages, a catalogue with thousands of products, or an ongoing feed of new strings? Ask for a quote

Reading, not just converting

Marketing copy gets translated by a person, then reviewed by a second one. Headlines and calls to action are written to work in the target language, not matched word for word. Button text stays short enough to fit the button.

Bigger packages include a pass in context: we read the translation on your staging pages or in screenshots, because the problems that survive a spreadsheet show up when you see the layout.

What to send us

  1. A page list or URLs, or the copy in a document with headings kept.
  2. String files exactly as exported (JSON, PO, XLIFF), with their keys.
  3. Meta titles and descriptions, image alt text, buttons and form messages.
  4. Brand names, product names and phrases that must stay in the original language.
  5. Staging link or screenshots of key pages, for the packages that include a review in context.
  6. A glossary or previous translations of the site, if any.
  7. Character limits for buttons, titles or app strings.

Where this stops

A translated website isn't the same as an SEO project. We include meta titles and descriptions in the packages that list them, but we don't research keywords, rebuild your site structure, or publish to your CMS. We hand you the translated text and, if you ask, a cleanly organised file to import.

Website questions

Is this an SEO rewrite?

No. We translate your text and review it. If you want keywords researched for the other language, that's separate work and a quote.

Do you publish the translation to my site?

No. We deliver translated text, or files in the same format you sent. Importing and publishing stays with whoever runs your site.

My store has 400 products. Which package?

Count the words in the product text, then use the word counter. Catalogues usually blow past the caps. If yours does, ask for a quote; stacking several packages is allowed but is rarely the cheaper route.

Do you use machine translation?

We may use translation-memory and terminology tools. Every delivered text is translated and reviewed by people.
